Mining and Timber

Thin support liners are becoming more accepted and developed with improved properties because the mining industry as a whole has been offering underground safe test trial sites. It can be sprayed both in liquid form and in a fibrous web pattern which allows one to span large cracks in rock surfaces.

Conveyor belts are sprayed with polyurea to resist wear. Paddles and agitator shaft of the trammel can be coated with polyurea. Other uses included spaying vibrating screen bases that were previously coated with polyurethane. The switch was chosen for the higher wear-resistance capabilities of polyurea.

Today, the National Park Service has inventoried data on more than 2,400 abandoned mine sites and more than 10,500 individual mine openings. Several methods have been employed to close and/or reclaim mine opening depending on the conditions and need at each site.

Polyurethane foam is used to plug openings when the mine does not provide wildlife habitat or to reclaim the mine.

 

Commercial and Residential Construction

There is no better home insulation material than polyurethane foam. It provides a cleaner environment, reduces noise, and produces superior energy savings. Because it expands from a liquid, it fills cracks, voids, crevices, and cavities to provide a climate-controlled building. It also reduces the chance of mold and mildew and lowers utility costs.

Another benefit is fire protection that can extend the time fire takes to burn through a home or building which allows the occupants more time to escape during the blaze. Polyurethane foam adhesives are used in many construction sites from roofing to manufactured homes to hurricane damage mitigation.
Polyurethane foam — depending on the need — can serve as an excellent insulation medium or enhance the structural integrity of the finished product. The list of applications is too numerous to mention and new applications are added daily.

Aluminized elastomeric polyurea is used as a roof coating over metal, polyurethane foam, and even concrete. It replaces and repairs failed sheet membrane liners in steel tanks, silos, and pipes.

Target Industries’ polyurea not only preserved the concrete but reduces maintenance costs because it’s easily cleaned by pressure washing.

Polyurea is a multi-purpose joint fill, caulking, and sealant material. It forms a flexible, durable, weather-tight, and traffic-resistant seal for building joints, expansion joints, and control joints in masonry floors, perimeter joints, panels and doors, water reservoirs, etc.
It has excellent crack-bridging properties with high elongation and tensile strength. The fast cure time and insensitivity to moisture allow for a quicker installation with a wider application window.

Polyurea coatings provide a watertight seal against moisture for building foundations, roofs, and joints. The coating is a seamless sub-slab or sub-grade water barrier.
